文明的人类社会无往不生活在制度中，大到国家，小到社区和企业，无不是制度的各种展现形式。良好的制度可以有效且公正地组织人类活动，释放更大的生产力，创新更多的技术。制度创造进步，改革就是制度的新旧更替和完善合理。
复旦大学制度建设研究中心以政治学和公共管理两个一级学科为主要支撑，本着制度生活的最高关怀，关注国内和国际、政治过程和公共管理的良好组织。围绕现实问题，重视调查研究，进行学理分析，这是中心研究的核心价值。举办学术讲座，组织会议讨论，发布研究报告，这是中心主要的活动形式。研究报告以三个系列为主：
1）制度与国家成长；
2）制度与全球治理；
3）人类和平的制度基础。
中心联合校内外、国际国内学术力量，鼓励跨学科、多视角的科学研究。研究成果既追求学术的理性和价值，又努力对政策实践和制度运行提供重要启示。更合理的制度，更完美的生活，这是中心努力的主旨目标。
中心是开放型、非营利的学术机构，努力同国内外相关学术单位、思想库、实际工作部门和媒体进行交流与合作。研究经费自筹，欢迎社会各界的支持与资助。

Civilized human life is embedded in various institutions that spread from the state to local communities and enterprises. Good institutions can effectively and justly organize human behaviors, release productive forces, and promote technological innovations. Institution creates progress, and human beings purposefully bring in reforms to replace and improve institutions.
Center for Institutional Building Studies (CIBS) at Fudan University is based on the two basic discipline, political science and public management. Mostly valued the fundamental emphasis on institutions and institutionally organized social life, it focuses on the better organizing of domestic and international politics and public management. The core value of CIBS is to theoretically research practical issues through scientific methods. Major activities include academic lectures, symposiums and conferences, and publication of research reports. The research reports have three series: institutions and state development; institutions and global governance; and institutional foundation of human peace.
CIBS aims to combine academic resources in Fudan University, in China, and in the world and encourages multidisciplinary research. The research products shall not only demonstrate academic rationality and excellence, but also provide inputs for policy practices and institutional building. By that, we aim at more reasonable institutions that lead to better life.
CIBS is an open and nonprofit academic institute. We welcome collaboration with academic institutes, think tanks, governmental agencies, and media. We raise research fund by ourselves and welcome external support and funding.
